What is padded kraft mailer? A Comprehensive Look at Three Major Types.
In modern e-commerce logistics and eco-friendly packaging, Kraft paper cushion envelopes are becoming a highly favored solution. They offer excellent protective performance and stand out for their recyclable and biodegradable environmental characteristics.
What is a padded kraft mailer?
A padded kraft mailer is a new type of mailing packaging that uses high-strength kraft paper as the outer layer and internally combines various cushioning materials. It combines the sturdiness and abrasion resistance of kraft paper with the impact protection of an internal cushioning layer to provide comprehensive protection for products, serving as a green alternative to traditional plastic bubble mailers. Based on the inter layer cushioning material, there are mainly three types:
1. Kraft bubble padded mailer.
This is the most common type. Its structure involves a layer of polyethylene (PE) bubble film laminated to the inner kraft paper. It blends the rigidity of kraft paper with the shock-absorbing properties of bubble film to effectively resist compression and impacts during transportation.
- Features: comprehensive protection, cost-effective, widely applicable.
- Suitable for: electronics, cosmetics, books, small accessories, and other items requiring good cushioning.
2. Honeycomb Padded Mailers
This represents innovation and environmental protection. Its internal cushioning uses a unique honeycomb paper core, mimicking the mechanical structure of a beehive to provide excellent compression resistance and cushioning at very light weight.

- Features: ultra-lightweight (reduces postage), very strong compression resistance, 100% pure paper and recyclable.
- Suitable for: high-value, weight-sensitive items (such as luxury goods, precision instruments), fragile items, and brands aiming for an ultra-green image.
3. Paper Bubble Pappded Mailer
This type uses pressed bubble paper (also called Kraft bubble paper) as the lining. Pressed bubble paper is a material with a wavy fiber structure sandwiched between two layers of kraft paper; it does not contain air bubbles like plastic bubble film, but still provides good cushioning and surface protection, and its all-paper construction is easier to recycle.

- Features: fully paper-based, easy to recycle, good surface abrasion resistance.
- Suitable for: products that need surface scratch protection (such as glasses, records, CDs) and brands seeking completely plastic-free packaging.
How to choose?
- If you want a protective and high cost-effective mailer, choose the bubble cushion mailers.
- If you want extreme lightness and top-tier compression resistance, choose the honeycomb mailers.
- If you want 100% recyclability and no plastics, choose the bubble padded mailer.
Hope this guide helps you chosse the most suitable mailer for you!
